Consciousness is a lived experience, where “to be a body is to be tied to a certain world…our body is not primarily in space:  it is of it” (Merleau-Ponty, 1945, p.148)

Lucie’s practice examines dancers’ lived experiences focusing on the awareness and space in-between the physical and virtual bodies and environments.

Within Lucie’s practice, the body is a sensory device and through technologies, which she embodies within her works, it extends the body-mind connection.

Lucie’s practice (E) MBODIES processes of Being-Becoming through 7 principles, which are in constant flux.

Experiencing and Embodying movement, technology and science through Orange as a way to connect.

Principles

The Journeys and Discoveries in-between body-mind and the Physical and Virtual.

Lucie’s works draws inspiration from Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy of embodiment, with the idea of embodied consciousness in performance, especially when technology enters the dynamic.

For Lucie, like for Merleau-Ponty, the entangled relationship between the body and its environment is transformed into Lucie’s performances exploring the awareness of Self (being the performer and/or audience) in relation to both internal and external spaces, audiences, and even digital layers.

When performers engage with Lucie’s work and the technologies she uses—whether motion sensors, augmented reality, projections and imagery, or other digital tools—the body is no longer a self-contained entity moving through physical space alone; it becomes an MBODIES experience.

This MBODIES experience with a technological mediation that shapes new types of bodily awareness for the performer and audiences represents the layered experience of consciousness, body, and technology in performance.
